USMNT keeper Brad Guzan to join Atlanta United in summer

It’s been rumored for some time now, but it seems like Atlanta United will have its man in net come the summer.

U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper Brad Guzan is set to join the expansion side in 2017 at the conclusion of the Premier League season. Guzan currently plays for Middlesbrough, who sits 16th in England’s top flight as the table stands.

Guzan has made just three appearances this season for the Boro, often serving second-fiddle to Victor Valdes in goal.

The 32-year-old Guzan has played in the Premier League since 2008 after previously joining Aston Villa from now-defunct MLS side Chivas USA.

According to Sam Stejskal of MLSSoccer.com, Guzan has yet to officially sign an MLS contract, however, a verbal deal has been put in place.

Atlanta maintains the rights to Guzan as the club currently holds the number one allocation spot. Manager Gerardo Martino and his side currently have three goalkeepers under contract, Alec Kann, Alex Kapp and Alexandros Tabakis.
