USMNT forward Terrence Boyd joins Bundesliga side Darmstadt

Terrence Boyd has battled various injuries over recent years, but the U.S. Men’s National Team forward is prepared to get back on the right track in 2017.

The 25-year-old German-American signed with Bundesliga side Darmstadt on Tuesday, after previously playing for Red Bull Leipzig for the past three seasons.

Darmstadt is currently last in the Bundesliga, having racked up just nine points in the club’s opening 17 fixtures.

Despite finally being fit again for the first half of the 2016/17 Bundesliga season, Boyd failed to make an appearance for RB Leipzig, who continue to shock the German top flight and sit in second place.

At Darmstadt, Boyd will be looking to rejuvenate his international career as well. The striker has made just two appearances with the USMNT since 2014, however, Boyd will have to receive consistent minutes at Darmstadt in order to figure back into Bruce Arena’s plans.

With Jozy Altidore, Bobby Wood, Jordan Morris and potentially Clint Dempsey each in the mix for a starting role up front for the U.S., Boyd has his work cut out moving forward.

In 14 career USMNT caps, Boyd has failed to score on the international stage.
