Sacha Kljestan To Lace Up For America Again

On Sunday afternoon, Red Bull New York midfielder Sacha Kljestan was officially called into national team duty ahead of America’s friendlies against Cuba and New Zealand next week. The MLS leader in assists asserted his place on the international level during the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers against St. Vincent’s and Trinidad and Tobago this summer.

The Huntington Beach, California native has earned his place among potential MVP candidates with his league-high 17 assists, and six goals, good enough for second on the Red Bulls.

After being named to the US Men’s National Team as an injury replacement in September, Kljestan showed why he deserves to represent America on a recurring basis. In those two matches, he recorded two goals and two assists to lead his country to the hexagonal qualifications round.
