Red Bulls II Player Suspended Four Matches (Video)

Stefano Bonomo, of New York Red Bulls II, was handed a four-match ban for punching an opponent in Saturday’s loss to the Charleston Battery. In the 11th minute of stoppage time the striker, seemingly frustrated with Neveal Hackshaw’s physical coverage, turned around and cold-cocked the defender in the jaw. Bonomo received an immediate red card and sulked off the pitch.

The 23-year-old has recorded four goals and added an assist in 15 games this season. His subsequent suspension will present an opportunity for some young forwards to play meaningful time in the Red Bulls II lineup. Recent signing Florian Valot will look to join Brandon Allen at the tip of the offensive spear. The New York Red Bulls’ minor-league USL affiliate will take to the pitch again this Saturday against the Richmond Kickers.
