Former California Golden Bears forward Stefano Bonomo joins New York Red Bulls II

Harrison, NJ — New York Red Bulls II announced on Wednesday, July 29 the signing of former California Bears forward Stefano Bonomo.

According to the team’s official press release, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Bonomo was drafted in the second round (39th overall) by the New York Red Bulls in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, but never officially joined the team until July, when he returned as a trialist.

In his four years at the University of California, Bonomo averaged a goal every three matches. He tallied 22 goals and eight assists in his 66 career games. You can see one of them below against the University of Maryland.

Before beginning his college career at Cal, Stefano Bonomo was called up to two United States U-18 Men’s National team training camps in February and April 2011. The 22-year old holds both American and Italian citizenships.
